Silvermines were defeated by Ballingarry on a scoreline of 1-17 to 1-13 in the first round of the County League in Dolla on Sunday afternoon last.
Silvermines trailed by 0-12 to 0-6 at the break following four first half points from Eoin Grace (three frees) and a point apiece from Danny Quinn and Cathal Treacy.
Silvermines upped the ante early in the second half with three further Eoin Grace points from placed balls before Ronan Cunneen netted with a 44th minute strike to cut the visitors lead to three.
Ballingarry responded with a major of their own from the stick of Jack Fennelly and although Eoin Grace tagged on four further points from placed balls in the closing ten minutes they just couldn't reel in a determined Ballingarry side.
