Double North titles
It was a memorable weekend for the club with not one but two North titles brought back to the parish. Our under 13 hurlers overcame a stiff Kiladangan challenge on Sunday morning in Templederry to clinch the North ‘B’ title by 6-7 to 3-9 (see report). Our under 13 hurlers now face Moycarkey-Borris on Saturday next in Annacarty in the county semi-final. (throw-in 12 noon). Best of luck to all involved.
It was then on to Borrisoleigh for our North U-19 ‘B’ clash again against Kiladangan and although we trailed by 1-02 to 0-12 at the break a tremendous second half performance saw us emerge as 3-12 to 0-15 winners after Darragh Treacy and Sean Nolan netted the all important second half-goals (see report).
Junior C Hurling
Silvermines face Borrisoleigh in Dolla on Sunday 10thSept at 5pm. Best of luck to all involved.
Under 17 Hurling
Our under 17 hurlers must do it all again following a tremendous North quarter-final clash against Roscrea on Monday of last week. Both sides remained locked at 0-19 apiece after over 71 minutes of hurling following 11 minutes of injury time. The game then went to extra time with the Mines’ trailing by 0-20 to 0-21 at the break. Silvermines battled back though to send the game to replay after both sides finished on 0-23 apiece. The replay will take place at 6.15 pm on Tuesday 5th September in Toomevara. Should Silvermines progress the north semi-final will take place in Moneygall on Thursday at 6.15pm with Borris-Ileigh as the opponents.
Under 15 Hurling
Hard luck to under 15 hurlers in the North quarter-final against Newport on Thursday last in Ballina. Newport prevailed by 4-7 to 2-7 having led by 3-5 to 1-5 at the break. A big thank you to all the mentors and players for all their efforts throughout the year.
Club Lotto
The jackpot is now €7,400 and the club are appealing to all club members to play the club lotto online through our Clubzap app or by logging on to www.silverminesgaa.com.
Club Golf Outing
Silvermines GAA Club golf society will host a Captains Prize outing in Nenagh Golf Club on Saturday next the 9th September. Entry fee is 25 euro and anyone wishing to take part can do by contacting Jack Dunlea (087-2114169), Michael Fitzgibbon (087-2533469), Christy Collins (087-1300788) or Martin Ryan (087-2905053).
Camogie
Hard luck to our senior side who lost out narrowly by 1-11 to 1-16 to Duharra. Our next outing is against Drom/Inch on Sunday 17th September. Best of luck to our under 16 side who face Moycarkey-Borris in the county semi-final in The Ragg on Thursday evening at 6.30 pm.
LGFA
Our Junior side face Moyne Templetouhy on Sunday next in Dolla at 12 noon. Best of luck to all involved. Our under 14’s play Ballina also in Dolla at 7pm.Our under 14’s are out also on Friday 8th Sept at 6pm in Dolla.
